• Everything you need to know about passenger and utility aircraft, business jets and more
Civil Aircraft is a comprehensive guide to the world’s passenger and utility aircraft, from the beginning of heavier-than-air flight with the Wright brothers, to today’s multipurpose helicopters, business jets and ultra reliable wide-body airliners.
Densely packed with information, this book covers an array of civilian designs, from barnstorming biplanes, through interwar seaplanes and classic airliners such as the DC-3 and Comet, to stalwarts of the world’s skies including the Boeing 747 and Airbus A320. Aircraft featured include: The Hughes H-4 Spruce Goose, the largest aircraft ever built, which flew only once; Russia’s giant lifting helicopters, including the Mi-26 ‘Halo’ which is regularly used on difficult UN missions around the world and the giant Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft.
This book contains detailed features on more than 220 civilian aircraft from more than a hundred years of aviation. Each aircraft is covered in detail, with feature boxes outlining its development, technical specifications, performance data and variants. Unique graphics allow the reader to compare specific features like capacity and range to those of other aircraft of the same type.
